Glass cages cut mine for cheap. Just don't pay until you make sure they are sanded. Jon, Are your saying sanding the glass -or- the plexiglass/acrylic -or- either/both ?

A GIANT THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU for conversing with me on the subject and offering input and advice to me !!! I have still not made a purchase,...but know I must, as my evaporation is way to fast in winter with my de-humidifier running, and the humidity goes up in my fishroom now that the doors have to be shut all the time to retain the heat in the room. Thus, mold can take hold and I have that under control @ the moment and don't want to deal with that again. Not the least of which,.......I reckon more heat would be held in the tanks if they were covered or at least partially covered. I currently have very few tanks covered. It is convienant, but not practical in winter for me.

Router or even a jig saw will cut the plexi, I have done it a few times and with the correct blade/bit and speed you will have no issues (other than plexi scrap/dust all over ya ) Tim, What is the correct blade and speed ? Could one use a drimmel tool to cut with ? Does thickness matter when one considers how to cut it ? I cannot remember what blade I used with the jigsaw. It melts back together with high speed and I would use a router to get cleaner cuts if I do it again (or have Lowes/Home Dept cut it). I didn't use a special bit on the router when I cut it, just whatever wood bit was being used before me (car audio shop).
