Make sure the turtle has a blanket or towel to "dig" into. Both of ours like to hide when they sleep. When yours grows a bit he/she may learn to crawl out of the Tupperware. We did have an empty 10 gallon aquarium that was perfect until my hubby broke it... Since then we are temporarily using boxes until we can get another 10 gal. My bigger one has learned to push its blanket over and climb out if the box isn't deep enough.

Thats funny, you don't think about turtles climbing. This little guy has a while to go until then though, he would have to be an olympic pole vaulting turtle. He has potting soil in his box and he does love digging into it. Sometimes I have to really dig to find where he is. He seems to like strawberries. This was a couple days ago. I cut a strawberry in half and stuck it in with him. A few minutes later he was laying on top of it nibbling at it.

yes they are illegal to own, sale, give away, bring into the state, take out of state. No matter the size. However everyone knows people are going to keep them thats why pet stores will sell turtle supplies just not the turtles. However it is legal to keep tortoises. And you can buy, sell, import, export ect.. They just tend to be pricey.
