I don't know what it is. It's so cute though with long whiskers and big eyes. I got him yesterday with a used tank he was in.

I got two of them, a redtailed shark, an electric yellow lab, and 4 barbs that were all living together in the tank. I can't believe they all got along! They're split up now, though.

I plan to keep them. The barbs didn't make it. It was a long trip home and the kid didn't bag them very well. They were all on death's door, but I did what shouldn't be done and stuck them all directly in the tank as soon as I got in. The lab I held in my hand. She was motionless and upside down but I pushed her through the water some and she started to wake up. I probably held her for 40 minutes cupped in my hand underwater and she just swam right there never tried to swim off. I didn't have a grip on her. When I thought she was ok I took my hand away and she swam in with the rest of them, at which point my big male lab went nuts! He did his best Saturday Night Fever for her but she was pretty tired from the move. Maybe tonight...

If we aren't willing to do whatever it takes to help them thrive we shouldn't take them, right? I love my pets. I'd never just give up on them without trying. I feel bad for not finding a way to save the barbs, even though I didn't particularly want them. All our animals are well cared-for. I wish pet stores would take good care of theirs!

sounds like me, i had a "accident" this week with a $65 dollar male peacock, but there was nothing i could have done, i brought him home and put the bag in the water for an hour and a half, then i placed him in the tank. i left to go to a tball game and came back an 2 hours later to a dead fish laying on my carpet... he had jumped out of my tank through the hole where my heater cord and air line come out of the tank, and i still find it hard to believe he fit. i was soooooo bummed.... it took two days for me to finally get over it

Wow I'm sorry! U must have been totally freaked! I can believe it though. Last night one of my red fin borleyi jumped clear out of the water at feeding time. I thought, "woah--somebody's hungry!"

Its a pictus- They are cool, just be careful netting them- you can hurt them bad when they flex their fins in the net and its hard to get them out. They will eat any and all fry.

Both of them got stuck in the netting! I grabbed them by their fin and pulled the barb out the way it went in. The kid that gave/sold them to me was like "hey how are we gonna get this fish out of the net?" Well there was only one way!

We had a pike that tried many times to jump out until he finally died from it.... I also had 2 frogs that did the same thing. When we got them, they were about the size of a quarter. By the time they passed, they were HUGE! I called the bigger one Godzilla! I wish I had a pic of them.
