I bought this yesterday. Think a small colony of Tropheus would like this?

Angel,
That tank will work for a group of 12 trophs. As Jon stated add some rock. I would start with a juv's and grow them. When they are sexable keep all the females and two males. You asked once how to sex them. The way to do that is by taking them out one by one, turn them over and look at the vent. a large vent means female and small is a male. I use two buckets to keep them separate males in one bucket females in another. When all fish have been sexed return all the females to the tank. Then pick the best two males and place them back into the tank with the females. Sell or give away the extra males.

Thank you Joe! I've got juvies now and planning on more. Going to see Jon on Saturday. Still could use a few more after that I think. And I have more tanks cycled and ready to go. I just really liked this one because of the sand talk. That's the decor it came with, and I got tank, stand, filter with biowheel, hood, lights, heater, air pump, fish food and supplies, another net, another python, and fish for $150. Not too bad! Women like bargains, you know

Also forgot to mention Trophs will eat plants with the exception of Anubias and if I remember correctly ferns. You may want to take the plants out if they are real and you want them.

There are actually no plants in there. They're in the background. That came with the tank too hahaha Yes but in this case you know I got a bargain because you know what all this stuff costs. My husband is another story--he doesn't know and says "if you say so." Bet you have a similar line for your wife.

Well you want her to cover her assets don't you? We always feel like we have to justify what we spend to guys. Maybe it's that look we get when we come home with shopping bags. There's something that triggers it. But as long as you're happy if you never get rich from the saving at least she'll look good!

Angel- this is my opinion, and maybe more work than it's worth to you, but I would trash the background and paint the back and the sides a solid color. If you add sand and rocks it will make the fish really have a wow factor, and it should make the pics better. I only tell you this bacause I wish I had done it on my outside tanks before I set them up. Its still not too late for me, but it will be a lot harder. It will be impossible for you once you get it set up. But if you like the backgound it will still look great.

It's actually full of water and running. I didn't want the bacteria to die in the sand that's already there and the biowheels so I filled it right away. I don't care much for the background, and you're right--I have two other 55's down there I've attempted to put a background on and it's difficult because everything is so tight in. Then of course the tape let go on one of them so I'm still not done! But I like the background I have upstairs on my mbuna tank. It's Roman ruins. Black would be cool, but being that tropheus are going in and are very dark I don't know how much pop I'd get. The rocks--definitely!! I saw this one tank on a site and it had all male haps and peacocks in it. The background was dark and the rocks were whitish. The fish were vibrant. I LOVE it! Now I want one of those too. I'm gonna get killed hahaha

What about the car window tinting you were talking about? Is that hard to put on? I doubt I can get behind this thing!
