They sell it at aquatic critter- it is expensive, but I think the darkest tent from like a autozone would work. You get it soapy wet then apply the tent and then use a credit card and push all the air bubbles out. The critter gave it to me when I bought my tank there. Painting it with a can of spray paint would be a lot cheaper. I just think black makes the fish stand out more. Might not be as true with the tropheus, because they have a lot of black in them too.

You can also buy the kits at Home Depot. I bought the kit for an upstairs window and had enough left over to do a 29g tank. I used the reflective side out so it mirrored the back. I could have used the dark side which is the same material as car window tinting places.

Great tip, Jeff! Was just talking earlier about doing an LED lightstrip and what would be a good reflective material--that just might be the thing

The tropheus duboisi are too black for a black background . But I don't have any more of them--they're the ones that all died and I found a penny in the sand of this tank. The previous owners put it in there. It killed all the fish I put in there except for one. This might seem kind of stupid but I took this tank apart and when I put it back together I didn't use the same decorations they're just sitting in my fish room in no tank. I can't look at them and not think of the trophs I lost. I'll probably sell them.
