One of my two pairs of jacks is spawning. I have two pairs in a 125 with a rainbow shark and a pleco. Do I need to move anyone or will they guard their eggs ok?

I think they will guard, so I would just keep an eye on them, but I will pass this on to anyone on here with more Jack experience.

Congrats Dennis. I didn't think it would take long with those jumbo females you have.
I think it depends on what you are wanting. Do you want to raise the most fry possible or do you just want to watch you fish raise them? The parents will gaurd them if all goes well but there is the possibility of first time parents eating the eggs or fry. The rainbow shark and pleco will definately pick some off and if it is a common pleco they are notorious for eating eggs. If you just want to see the parents at work I would move the pleco and rainbow shark and just see how they do. Worst case you loose the spawn, they will spawn again in no time. If you want to raise the most possible I would vacuum them out as soon as they are wigglers and put them in there own tank with a cycled sponge filter. But be warned that it will not be easy to find homes for 500 regualr jacks if you vacuum them out and a bunch make it.
Post us some pics when you get a chance Dennis. I love the jet black colors on them when they are breeding.
