Cool= Is it albino, or just red eye from the camera

It's eyes are actually red but it's not an albino. The camera is causing the black spot in the middle of it's eyes to look white but it is actually black. The red ring in the eyes is actually there and is pretty common in SA fish. It's just my poor photo's that make it look albino .

I don't have a gold or red female for him to spawn with. There are some amazing severums out right now. Super reds, golds, turquoise, rotkeil, atabapo, etc. Great variaty with these guys.
They are notoriously bad parents though, so breeding the reds and golds can be a little difficult. Great fish to keep though.

Where do you recommend to get them? Also, are they very expensive?

The super reds are fairly expensive ($30-$40) as well are some of the rarer wild types such as rotkeils and atabopo. I've seen super reds and rotkeils at aquatic crtitter before. You can get gold and green/turquois severums pretty cheap at most pet stores. Some of the other wild types are best to order online. I have a couple of wild Heros efasciatus severums collectedin the tapojos that are starting to show some great red spotting on the green bodies. There really are a lot of nice severums out there right now.

there is one super red at the Critter right now. Looked like it was a trade in and they were asking $80 for it. Guessing it was around 6" +/-

I'm really interested in juveniles. That holds true with all fish. I just reallyy enjoy raising them and watching them change as they mature.

I'm for the most part the same way. It's like having more kids without the hassles!

Mine came from fishey business in Bowling Green, Ky as a juvenile. They usually have small ones. The aquatic critter has small ones from time to time. You could call either place and check if they have them in currently.

Called Aquatic Critter and they're all gone. Guy said they run $35-$40 even for juveniles. Seems high, but they are truly beautiful and are currently at the top of my considerable "want list."
John, you and JD need to get busy breeding these guys. I don't think you'd have a lot of trouble selling the fry.

John, you and JD need to get busy breeding these guys. I don't think you'd have a lot of trouble selling the fry. If only I could . I haven't been able to find a female and they are extremely hard to breed anyway. Hence the hefty price tag. The problem is that gold severums were line bred from green severums. Line breeding tends to make them weaker and one of the side effects turned out to be that gold severums are not real good parents. Not highly fertile and just not real good at it. Then red severums are line bred from gold severums increasing the effect. The end result is a much weaker severum with terrible parental instincts. But, you end up with a stunning fish!! There's always bad with the good.
