Patty do you have a girl too? How do you tell the boys from the girls, besides the gill flaring?

Angel, the males are much darker red and usually have more red. As far as I know the females will flare also.

Well that makes it more difficult! I had read that the males flare at spawn time. And that the male dorsal fin is pointed and the female is more round. That's not enough for me to go on--with my old eyes it's not easy to tell. I have two firemouth but don't know what I've got--male or female or one of each. One of them does flare though.
