I guess I should have given a little more information about my 75 gallon tank project. I have kept several strains of Discus in the past years tank bred and wild (had 10 Heckel Discus in a 75g with sand, drift wood, Java Ferns, and about 20 or more cardinal tetras). I've been keeping Tangs for the last 5 + years (125g) and want something different in the 75g ... Probably a few dwarf cichlids, cardinal tetras, and a few Discus....... any suggestions on where to purchase?

I posted this thread in the PIC forum yesterday musiccitycichlids.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=pics&action=display&thread=321I don't have anything special. I ended up with about 4 fish that I consider pretty good quality. Right after I got mine a few new strains became available that are amazing. Made me wish I would have waited, but I still love my fish. Most are about 3.5 years old and around 6-6.5 inches. I got them as juvies at 1.5-2 inches except for ocean green discus which I bought recently as an adult at an auction.

Tony, if you get 6-8 juvi's I would go aqua bid other wise I would just pay up and go critter unless you want to wait and see if someone joins here with some babies. I would kind of be scared to do the aqua bid because I don't know how well they ship.

The sponsers on simplydiscus.com have the best stock anywhere. There are a couple on there that import the best discus I have ever seen. You could also take a road trip to rockymountain dicsus. They are in the evansville IN area and are supposed to have really good stock. Never bought from them though. Might be worth the drive if you can setup a time with them to hand pick your fish.

I would love to try if you think they will thrive in my tap water. I don't want to have to get an R/O unit or anything. Can you do a thread in the breeding section on Discuss- Breeding- getting the fry to live. You don't have to go into crazy detail, just a quick step by step process of how to raise the fry.
