I'd love to take pics. But these babies are so small even with the big lens I'd never get a good shot. I have to take my glasses off to see them. They should grow a little soon--I hope! They sometimes back away from the baby brine shrimp because they're about the same size.

You have to get two bowls, or a divided tank. And keep the mother in one and the dad in the other. You feed them real good like brine shrimp and stuff and when the mother's breeding tube drops she's ready to lay eggs. Or if she just seems chubby maybe. You have to give the dad something to build a nest with. He makes it from bubbles but they'll pop unless he has something to put them on. Joe suggested a thin piece of styrofoam like a piece of a throwaway coffee cup. Let it float in his tank and put the mother's bowl where he can see it. He'll make bubbles under the styrofoam. Then you put her with him. He'll beat her up a little but it's ok. He'll hug her and squeeze the eggs out of her. It looks like he's killed her and they're both sinking to the bottom but not so. After he's got all the eggs out she'll be exhausted and lie in a corner or somewhere. He'll fertilize the eggs. When he starts to show aggression toward her take her out. He hatches the eggs. Oh and only have about 6" of water in his tank for the breeding. Joe knows a lot more but he told me how and it worked. The babies are really difficult to take care of IMO. But they're growing. So it's getting easier.

You need to cover their tank with glass. Completely. Else they can get pneumonia. I think that's for at least 5 weeks. Mine were too small to eat the baby brine shrimp even though I did give it to them I also gave them liquifry and squeezed their filter sponge at feeding time because they eat infusoria which supposedly grows in the filter. I was convinced they weren't getting enough to eat but they're still swimming and growing a little. They grow very slowly. It's been a week and a half and almost all of them are eating BBS. It'll be that way for a while. When they get bigger they have to be separated into different jars or bowls as the males start fighting to the death at a VERY young age. There are countless number of them so I can't figure out how many bowls and jars I'll need. I do have quite a few though. And all of those will need cleaned every couple of days at least I imagine, as they won't have filters. It's a nice project but Joe was right. I won't want to keep doing it. Can't wait to see what colors they are tho!

I've never seen one in peach before. He's really pretty! Gus is just a veil tail I didn't even know there were other kinds when we got him. He got here because our grandson just had to have one, and he picked him out. He was the first fish in the house. Now there are so many!!
