I hadn't but will read it. Jon vented them when we were there and said one was male and one was female but he wasn't sure which, but I thought maybe I heard that wrong because with the hump on his head and him being so much bigger it appeared he was the guy. I"ll have a look at the link. I've been wanting to learn venting.

It's an excellent illustration. I'll try it if I can ever get the fish back in the net, and then in my hands. That one's much bigger than my palm. Maybe Dennis will have to hold it.

Make sure you do it down in a bucket of water, don't want them to go flying! I have two proven female "Burundi Types" that have equal or bigger humps.

Hey i was wondering where i could find a large breeding pair of frontosa. Right now i have 6 smaller ones but i would like to get some larger ones. and does anyone know how long it takes to sex these fish. lmk

Samuelskelly, Frontosa are normally kept in a colony (they are harem breeders) with two males and up to a dozen females. Some have had success with quads (1m-3f). Frontosa normally have to be 4 1/2" to 5" before they can be sexed. I have a large male Kigoma (seven stripe, around 8 1/2") that I would sell - sorry, no females.
