Here's some pics of the latest batch of ABN's. They are now 3 weeks old. There are around 150 to 200 in this 20 gallon long tank. They are already over 1/2" long. I've just fed them, so they are having a feeding frenzy right now. This is a bare bottom tank so their reflections kinda mess up the pics. At this early age they are already chewing on the wood.

Drew, do you know about what age/size a male ABN would start to grow bristles? I've seen pics of some that are about 2" long that already have bristles showing. I'm just curious as to when I should expect mine to start growing.
1 of the 3 that I got from you is growing faster than the rest - it's getting close to 2", where the others are barely 1-5/8". I've read that this can sometimes indicate indicate that it is a male, but I can't be absolutely sure because of the breed.
Does your adult male(s) have very large or noticable bristles (mainly the one that is the father of your November batch)?

I found the answer at PlanetCatfish.com: they will grow bristles at about 9 months of age. Not too much longer, and they're still fun to watch!

Sorry I missed your posting on this thread Jeremy. I've had some to start growing bristle's at 6 months. It depends on how quickly they grow. I've had some that just take off and dwarf all the others from the same batch. Those are also the one's that I would call keepers!
