So far so good. The eggs still look great and the parents aren't eating them yet. They are very defensive though. I still have some pleco's in there, including my L134's, and they really go after anything that they see moving. I hope the pleco's will be alright!

The trouble is, plecos like eggs. A caviar snack would be a treat for them. So the angelfish are going to keep them at bay if they can. Taking the plecos out if you're leaving the eggs in is probably the best idea right now. If not, the babies are going to fall onto the substrate and they can eat them then.

No worries about the pleco's eating the eggs because they have fungused. The parents have been doing a great job, but the fungus has won. Do you think the male is infertile or maybe there wasn't enough circulation in the area where the eggs were? They were on the opposite end of the tank from the filter, but you can still see that the water is moving when the food floats around in that area. Beats the heck out of me. Only a few of the eggs are left with no fungus on them yet.

The eggs are notorious for fungusing . If you end up pulling them for next batch put methylene blue in the water. I have some here. More than I'll ever need. He's bound to be fertile. Just they fungus so dang easy.

They need a "clean" site to spawn on that doesn't have a lot of bacteria on it as it will take over very quickly. Then transfer the spawn to a container of fresh clean water with a airstone with a medium bubble rate. I like to use Peroxide as you can see what is going on in the container, at 80 degrees they will hatch in 48 hours. If 3 tries treated this way fails I would find them different mates. Mike

I noticed a couple of days ago that the lips on my female angel fish have turned white. Is this something I should be worried about? Does anyone have any idea what would cause this?

Have a close look at them. What else about them is different? Are they fuzzy? Is anything else discolored? How is the fish behaving? Is she eating, and swimming in the usual places?

I don't think they are fuzzy. The just look a pale white, sort of like they just lost their color. The male also has a small white area on his lips also, but not near as much as the female. She is eating fine and swimming. She was locking lips with the male the other day after she laid her last batch of eggs. Sort of fighting I guess. Any ideas?

If they're not fuzzy I'm unsure. But we have a lot of angelfish guys here. Hopefully one will answer.

I've had that happen to them also really noticeable on Darks. Usually from lip locking (as you mentioned) or slate cleaning. Keep the tank clean and they will be fine. Mike

Ditto to Mikew65's comment. I think they are fine unless somthing else progresses. Just watch them close for any other signs of problems.

Ok. I'm getting a little worried again about this female. Tonight it looks like maybe some fungus on her lip or her lip is torn. I really can't tell for sure. If it is a fungus what should I treat it with?
