Here is a picture of the Herotilapia multispinosa or common name rainbow cichlids i bought from JD at the meet. I love these guys they get prettier as they grow. Oh and yes that is a female double red apisto with them. I think she thinks she is one of them. LOL.... Attachments:

Looking good. Looks like they are growing well. If you make it up my way I'll show you there parents. Trust me, those haven't even begun to color up yet. You will be amazed at what they look like in another 6 months to a year!!!

Well they're beautiful as is! They kinda remind me of a bass with that green sheen. Will they always get along with the apisto?

I think she can hold her own with them. She will bully them more than anything else. When the food comes she makes sure she gets hers and will chase off the bigger guys. lol

George I was up at JD's today and saw the parents and they are deep red stunners! Needless to say I came home with one of the babies. They're amazing!!

Very much! It was a little bit disappointing he wouldn't live with the wild caught HRP male safely. The HRP will live alone for now I haven't any ideas who to put him with.

If you still have the Jacks put the HRP in with them. If it is the male from Jon he is a mean little SOB so it will be fine.

That's the one. There's an oscar in there too I wasn't sure he could handle the pressure.

You know, when we bought him we were thinking what a nice commercial it would make. Like the GEICO ad. He was bought with the money we saved by shopping with JD! (cue the Rockwell music here)

Lol.
Does the oscar go after other fish? Try to eat anything? As long as the oscar doesn't eat him your OK. Aggression wise he will be fine. It's just a matter of the oscar trying to swallow him. Some oscars don't both trying to eat fish. Some go after them like crazy.

The oscar is the first one to the food, and if a cull goes in there(I won't dwell on it too much!) he's always the one to get it. But he leaves the other fish that won't fit in his mouth alone. He chased the jacks a little for territory but all's good now.

If it won't fit in the oscars mouth I would try it. If the oscar can swallow it I wouldn't risk it.
