yhbae- your changes look way better. My only concern was that a beginner that just set up a large tank would panic.

If they stick to purely one biotope theme, they have a better chance to succeed. Once successful, they can try other ideas with more interesting mixes. FYI - I am having a discussion with another member on another board about why Bristlenose Pleco has been made compatible with Lake Tang species... ;D In theory they shouldn't be because of their native environment but in practice you can climatize them. This is a debate or whether to remain pure or be a bit more practical while sacrificing a bit of purity... Hmmm...

Tang species, Malawi species, bristlenose etc can all be acclimated to the same water very easy. My tangs do well as long as the PH is around 7.8. I am almost to the point of thinking a bristlenose could live in a cup of water at any ph.
Tangs probably do best with pH over 8, but it is better to keep it a stable 7.8 than have it bounce up and down and never be constant. I have found they like their water clean most of all.

and by the way, if this is for beginners, throw purity out the window. The worst thing a beginner can do is mess with their tank too much. Most beginners want to know if I put this with this, will they both live. In most pet stores, and even the importer I get my fish from, all the fish have already been acclimated to a reasonable ph. Most I have talked with say 7.6-7.8. So there isn't any acclimating needed for the beginning hobbyist.
If you are looking to target the expert hobbyist that wants an exact replica of the natural environment then you are on the right track.

I am actually with you on this one. On another forum, a person with a lot of knowledge is against this idea simply because it is not purely correct. I argue against it because of the reason you specified here - it is meant to be for beginners hence if the mix is likely to succeed in aquarium conditions, I'd like to say it is ok. I kept Bristlenose for long time and bread them in non-native conditions for years so I know a bit about those too. I even wrote an article that talks about why water stability is more important than nailing native water parameters.

Sounds great, I think it will make your tool very useful- I think it already was, but this is the most practical way for the average hobbyist.

Its something to play around with at school while i am bored. I am constantly having ideas and wondering if it would work at all. That website gives me an idea on if it would or not. Hi guys, I have been doing AqAdvisor weekly releases for a while. I will be doing another release this Sunday morning. If you have any species that are missing (or missing filters), please let me know. If you see any results you don't agree with, please let me know that too. Thanks!
