the second one looks like a Banded Leporinus but i am not sure. I have had one years ago they are a really neat fish

I think Jody has it right - banded leporinus. They are a very tough fish - had one that ruled a cichlid tank!

Happy to see you didn't get one.
Those fish can reach four feet, if I am not mistaken.
I still don't understand why pet stores sell them, there are very few people that have the capability of housing a 4 foot fish. also if it still had the yoke sack attached there is a good chance it will not survive.

JD is putting his out in his pond. It's currently in a massive 220 gallon and outgrowing it. And he's not done growing yet. I like them but I won't ever get one. With no place to put a 10 foot tank that would just be cruelty. I'll just look at JD's!

He's got some I wouldn't mind catching in that show tank! Except that they're friends, not game. Dangit!
