Well, out of the 4 males, I wound up not keeping any of them. I gave one to David, traded 2 in at the Critter for a pair they had (more on this later) and returned one to the LFS here for in-store cred. As for the 2 I got at the Critter, it's kind of cheating I guess, but they were already pairing at the store ;D . They were trying to take over a cave in the store tank, but a plec in it wasn't giving up. Once I got them home they each took a cave of their own for a few days, but now they are occupying one together 80% of the time, and everytime the female gets close to the male she flares out and shimmies for him. Recently they have started aggressively defending their area together to beat back the invading horde of swordtails and gold barbs. I'm hoping love is in the water . I guess only time will tell. Regardless, the fry tank is set up and waiting. Another bright note, the brown diatom algae is relenting, and the tank is clearing nicely. Since my swordtails don't get to constantly peck at the algae, they aren't poo factories anymore. My light box I built for the tank is done except for the wiring. Hope to have it done soon. Get those 4 spirals over the tank as opposed to the single T12 on it now.

Glad the new pair is working out for you. I'm sure you will have fry soon. They are excellent parents. I had a pair about 7 years ago in a plant 45g with several other fish and they would easily be able to guard the fry for several weeks. They would often have 15-20 of them make it in the tank without me even doing anything. Your making me want to go to the critter and get a pair
