Definitely a beautiful fish. And if he is in with africans from what I have experienced with sunfish they can take care of themselves. It is nice to have someone else here who appreciates the natives we have.

I am not surprised. The sunfish are some of the meanest I have kept and they are worse than some africans. Very much a predator fish.

9" large mouth was killed in the large tank the the pike did a number on it there aways getting along till you go to sleep

i think the sun fish gets 10" to 12" im not real sure tho

From what I've read they CAN reach 16" but generally get to half that. Wonder if that's because they get caught before then or they just don't grow that big?

Still a beautiful fish you have there. Nice picture too. I did catch a big pumpkinseed up in Michigan, We lived at Walled Lake and were right on the lake. I caught a lot of largemouth bass crappie and sunfish but my favorite was a 15 inch pumpkinseed. Took it down to the the local bait store and got it measure and weighed. Even got my picture with the fish in the local paper. I think at that time the record was 17 inches. That was many moons ago though. LOL. Keep us updated.

I had no idea bream were so pretty. I need to find some fish like that in Alabama!
