I have a group of 18 Tropheus that started out as a group of 14 so there has been natural success no stripping. There are three groups Chimba red, Moori and Ndole Bay. They really have never colored up and all grew up together as fry 1 1/2 years. I changed the backround to blue from black. The holey rock is white and the substrate is a black white mix. I had same thing occur with a proven colony of Bemba orange. Why are they not showing their true colors?

It could be stress, or just them trying to adjust to a sudden environment change. I have tropheus that change color throughout the day. Especially when I first turn the lights on. I have a couple dominant that always stay colored up, but the rest can change pretty drastically.
