When I top off I do RO/DI and nothing more. Salt stays in the water during evaporation, so the concentration gets too heavy during this time. RO/DI to dilute it back to where it was. If there are corals munching down the magnesium or calcium that gets put back in but my tank's not heavy in corals so no complications there.

In saying that, it could be a little higher in magnesium, and a supplement has been recommended. I've not done it yet--I have my hands full with the water changes during the diatom phase.

Agreed, salt tanks should be topped off with no-salt-added RO water as the salt hasn't evaporated.
