How? I tried to find a way to do that... I like some of the auto modes, but prefer not to have the flash automatically pop up.

There should be a flashless mode. Other than that you might have to go in and change your settings to mess with that. I just let the camera do the thinking for me and shoot. I use the flash because it gets a cleaner shot of the fish. When I go flashless, it always seems to blur a little bit.

You are right. I wonder if that's just not in the manual or if I missed it. It wasn't easy to figure out how to have live view in all the modes either, but that is possible, and using autofocus. I haven't tried it though.

it is definitely in the manual, that is where i found the information above.
i always shoot through the viewfinder so even though i have live view on my slr i never use it.

Man, I wish I had the extra money to get myself a new camera. I feel lucky my son bough himself a new camera and gave me his old camera. It is nice and take the necessary pictures. Someday I will get a good camera. I think mine will work fine for now though.

I wouldn't ordinarily prioritize something that's not a nessesity, but knowing what my life I probably going to look like for the next half a dozen or so years, I thought, if I don't do it now I won't have another opportunity.
