I just made a new batch of frozen food last night. I put a ton of stuff in there from shrimp, krill, spinach, peas, carrots and a few other ingredients I have in my classified files. This is way more expensive and time consuming than flakes, but it should be a big time weight gainer treat for them. I used the Ad Konings cichlid recipe that he has in one of his books and there is a link on the cichlid forum. I alter the ingredients to fit my needs. www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/food_recipes.phpBasically frozen shrimp veggie jello. I made 2 lbs last night and I will make another 2 lbs tonight. Fed Tropheus today and they loved it. If they bloat up tonight and die, this post will be followed by, "Don't feed this stuff to tropheus" I made 1 lb 90% veggie so they should be fine unless a clump of gelatin stops them up.

I have attempted my own concoctions of home made frozen food recipes before. They always stunk and never seemed to be to appetizing to the fish. After several attempts, and cloudy waters, and not good responses by the fish, and most importantly, my wife asking me about dead fish odors in the house; I have given up and gone back to bought and prepared frozen, flake, and pellet. :-}
