Just trying to learn some stuff here. Is everything you listed only 1ea? Arent you worried if it is just ones that the single females will get beat up by the males?

I've been running this setup for a year now. It's all about the rocks. Give plenty of hiding spaces and you can do any ratio you want. Mbuna love rocks. I know it goes against conventional thinking but it works for me. My experience, mbuna are so nasty it doesn't matter male or female. Everyone tries to beat up everyone.

this guy went nuts and got all colored up when i added two new mbuna from the swap. he was pretty ticked off new fish rolled in. one minute he would be blue/black then the yellow would pop Metriclima Ps. Zebra Hara Red Top Galilea fish came from jon @ rift fish canon t1i, no flash, 3200 iso (which is why it is grainy), f/2.5, 1/400 shutter. took about 30 shots to get 3 usable one. he was spazing out hard.

signde - great job on capturing those pics, and sharing the photo meta info.
what kind of rocks were in the first pictures, the darker courser rocks? And why did you change them out (were the first to course)?
I like the usage of both types of rocks, my preference is the darker ones and I might like to try that in one of my tanks if they don't hurt the Mbuna cichlids.

thanks.
the first were lace rock. i've used it with mbuna for about a year, the jaggedness isn't a problem. it doesn't stack very well because it is randomly shaped and jagged but it does make lots of nice caves that mbuna love.
in the end i wanted to go with a more natural look. from what i have seen larger round smooth rocks are more like the base of rift lakes.
