Im not sure im putting this in the right section, but got a question. As far as breeding tanks im just going to use my main tanks, no breeding groups alone in 1 tank. As far as fry tanks go since im going to be breeding 8 different groups do I need to setup 8 fry tanks, 10gal, and 8 growouts, 20gal. Or can I put more then one group in a tank. Please help me with options. Also some of these tanks will be going in garage and game room and if anyone in clarksville has experience building stands and would like to help me out it would be appriated. Depending on the suggested needed tanks I would love to build some verticle stands and if someone can teach me the ins and out of stand building I may start making them to sell.

What kind of fish? Mbuna and Haps? If the fry are about the same age, they can be raised together. I would say no more than 1-3 weeks apart though, because the older fry can eat the smallest fry. I guess you would just strip the females?

As long as they are about the same size, and you can tell them apart, they can mix fine.

Great video. Not exactly the way mine are built, but close. The key, IMO, is knowing how weight is distributed, and how wood must sit on the piece below it to support the weight. As any good carpenter would tell you, understand your project application, and measure twice and cut once. Same principals would apply when building a door or window frame opening with wall above that. Remember, H2o weighs about 8.3 lbs. per gallon, so even a 10 gallon aquarium can weigh over 100 lbs.. Multiply those numbers, and there can be a lot of weight on that wood. Research this topic until you are confident you understand, then proceed. Good luck and keep us posted on the progress.

they are adjustable, the ones i am going to get are adjustable to 8 ft and everything in between. i am switching because wood is wide and i get an extra row of tanks in vertically. i also hate woodwork, screws, measuring, and the like. i want to just get a box i can throw together in under an hour.
downside is the width is set so tanks might have to much or to little room. i am going through a black metal phase right now.

Im doing all mbuna right now. Later on I really want to breed tangs.
is there a certain metal shelf at lowes/home depot I should try to find to look at that would be best suited for the weight of tanks verically
