If you turn out all the lights and dont feed the fish they will live at least 7days =) all my fish made it last time we had a storm ,and i was out of power for 7days. All I did was make them sleep the whole time ,and not feed them. cover the tank with a sheet ,or make the room dark that way they are not stressed out ,and dont move around that often. a battery pump is still someething good to keep on hand also though.

Most fish stores carry them, even Petsmart/Petco. I think I saw some at the Aquatic Critter last week. But Glen is right...I didn't have pumps for all my tanks and all my fish survived.
I wanted to add that mine take D cells, and they lasted for about 12 hours. So make sure you stock up on batteries for them, too. I've started keeping just a few sponge filters in some of my tanks so that if an outage ever happens again, I can run the cycled sponge filters off the battery pumps in my most critical tanks (like my frontosa). You could also consider a small generator just for your tanks...you can get one for $500. We have a generator but it was busy keeping all our food cold rather than running our fish tanks.

How long would a UPS last running an airpump or two?

Our UPS only last for about 15-20 minutes, and that is with beeping all the time. It would take a really expensive UPS to last 6-8 hours...I'm guessing as much as a generator.

I don't think there is one that can last that long. A generator is on my wishlist.

WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO BUY A BATTERY OPERATED AIR PUMP? DUE TO ALL THE POWER OUTAGES FROM STORMS, I NEED TO GET ONE FOR A 125 GAL. You'd be better served to get an battery powered pump from Kmart, Walmart or a bait shop. Cheaper than a pet store if they even have them.
