seemed like an over the top reality show more than a show about aquariums, and poorly done one at that. i could barely watch the first one. if i want mindless drama i'll watch jersey shore.

David, Did you tape the 2 shows ? I would like a copy to view. Even if it is/was cheesy. Rick

Rick, the premiere episode re-airs tonight (Sunday) at 6pm. The second episode re-airs on Sept. 1 at 9pm. The next new episode is on at the regular time this coming Friday. I have them on DVR, and don't have a way to get them to tape, but found the upcoming times on my DVR menu. You might also check www.hulu.com to see if you can watch them for free on there. Or if you have On Demand they might be there. Sig, I agree with your assessment. Most of it is over-produced and "created reality." I work in TV production, and this happens a lot. For the general population, there wouldn't be enough interest in the mechanics of what they do (i.e. what we aquarium enthusiasts are interested in) to make it a successful show. So they have to create those other story lines and overly dramatic scenarios. That's why they don't discuss the plumbing, filtration particulars, etc. Most people would be bored to tears with that, unlike us. Yes, kinda cheesy, but interesting nonetheless. I have reason to believe they run a much more serious company than is reflected on the show. If you visit their website, you can see they are highly successful for a reason. Good work, but of course at top prices. But their clientele has it to spend so I say good for them. If that 4-tank quarantine system nabbed them $30,000 I can't imagine what they get for their bigger builds and installs. Wow.

They have been re-airing the episodes. Most of it seems pretty underwhelming. The big fish place they went to was pretty cool, though.

i dont think those 2 guys know what they are talking about. They are salesmen, they probably outsource the design and have cowboy build it or redneck whatever his name is. the show is kind of funny, but i agree, not very informative.
it kind of gives impression that you buy a tank, throw fish in it and you are done.

Making everyone think they can go out and build thier own bikes! the real back bone of that company you dont get to see on TV.

Yeah, definitely don't see the behind the scenes people and the work they obviously do. If you go the staff page of their website, there's a crew of about 30 people in the picture.

Rick, you need a DVR! We haven't had a VCR in at least 5 or 6 years.
I do think it would be more informative for them to talk about cycling, and going into more detail about being "eco-friendly". A lot of the decorations are very ugly and cheap looking, but I guess if you want an instant setup you can't really grow out frags.

Yes, there is lot of editing done that shortens those installations and bypasses all the detail. It does give the illusion that they are just throwing fish in there, but those installs could be shot over the course of several days so you never know. It did show them using what appeared to be tap water for that one tank where the water was too hot, but then it cuts to shots of happy swimming fish, so you know a lot happened in between for them to throw hundreds of dollars worth of fish in there. Misleading to the common Joe though.
The premise of the show is more about the grand scale of the tanks, the challenge of the build, and the upper crust clientele than the fish obviously.
