Ok Just wanted to give an update on a breeding project I started about 3 years ago. About 3 years or so ago I got my first Firefish peacocks from Jon. I have posted My male breeder a few times over the past and was always proud of how he turned out. I bred tons of them and then thought, What if I started a good strain of Albino firefish. There are a few nice strains of them out there now but at the time they were few and far between and most were drab and dull in color. I then bought a female off of Craigslist and the rest has been alot of work. They bred quickley and I had tons of splits. I then picked 10 of the best and raised them and bred them eventually. With that I only got 8 albinos out of maybe 30 or so fry. I then took the best of those young and bred them together. Then I got another female albino and bred her with my best male. Anyways here it is 8 generations later of just specific line breeding and I Have a nice pair that I may start selling some of the fry when available. I sold a few fry from my last breeding (where this male came from) to Jon. I am not sure if he kept any long enough to see what they would turn into. The males finally have a nice bright red/orange color and lots of spots, versus the light orange or pink color that I started with. Also the females are really bright orange. Not drab and faded looking like most.

here is the new strain of male. Notice the red covers most of the head too. Not the usual pearl look. The bright one in the back is the female. She is currently holding her first clutch. For reference these two are only about 3" now. So male should get even more attractive. He started showing great color at about 1.5-1.75" Attachments:
