Well, it's really happening... we have a hard date for closing. Tomorrow (Thursday) we are closing and we'll be moving everything this weekend... yikes! I'll be moving the fish first thing on Saturday (I think). Hoping to borrow Mark's buckets but if not, I think I'll purchase some of those Rubbermaid tubs... since we need some anyways. Should be interesting...

They'll be fine. Just keep them warm and load the containers sparingly. Ammonia spikes can be awful, so avoid this by packing all the fish in multiple containers. Empty H20 in tanks to gravel level and keep moist, to keep some of the bacteria alive when you add H20 back. Let us know how it goes. And,...congrats on the house ! If you have never closed on a piece of real estate, that experience is going to be interesting to you as well.

I would just put the fish in bags, and foam boxes lol that way i am not driving around with buckets of water but stackable foam boxes. the fish would do fine in bags as long as you know how to bag them right. Just my 2 cents . so far doing test with my brichardi in bags sitting in boxes they have lived up to 12 days!!!!! this was a small bag like the ones i kept fish in at the swap, and 6 brichardi. yes they did die on the 13th day, but it was a test I was willing to try before shipping so i could make sure i was doing stuff right. I know I heard it from the wife alrady... "that is so mean you fish killer" i would rather me do it in the garage then I send you a box of 30 fish and they all die. Right?

Glen, that is hilarious! I definitely see your point but also agree with your wife. LOL! No telling what I'll end up doing...I'm going to try to get with Mark but if that doesn't happen, then I'll probably go with the tubs as I can reuse them. I'd have to go out and buy some large bags for my haps/peacocks. Thanks for all the suggestions though, this is very helpful!

the part about fast your fish is so true, i brought fish from Fla. home with me 2 yrs ago and we stopped over nite didn`t lose a fish i had 4 tubs of fish that i ran air on and did 50 % water changes both days. you can use the spring water from wal-mart and its ready for the tank when you open it all you have to do is get the temp. same as water the fish is in . it was 99 cents a gallon back then but its still a safety net if you need some good water fast.
