That's cool, this is a hobby and some have more free time than others. I know how much you and Roger love fish and that's what this site is for.

this is a cry for HELP ..due to a tankastrophe I had to move 30 or more fish including 5 synadontis cats I recently acquired from Jon ..all seemed well until this morning when I cut on the lights and holy moly there were the dreaded ich spots on about half of the fish in the tank including my precious cats ...before i left today i started the t5emp raising and am looking for a med to use that has no copper..I keep many inverts so copper is out of the question does any one have suggestions??

We'll need to have a copy of this question in Disease so ppl look at it faster and can answer, but my first suggestion besides raising the temp is add salt. There are so many meds and someone will know the right one for your tank, but salt does aid in getting rid of ich.

Much more effective then any copper meds and much safer as well.

I have the best luck just using salt and raising the temp. I use aquarium salt from API in the blue box.. and have never lost a pleco or a catfish. That other stuff is very hard on the catfishes.

Yeah I second Travis. I'm not a huge fan of chemicals or copper due to what I keep.
Raise the temp, add aquarium salt (I generally keep 1-2lbs of it on hand at all times) and change the water based on the ich cycle. Best to change out when it starts to come off before it re-attaches.
Just be careful with the salt if you have plants, too much can kill them off.

Agree ^^^ When Ich happens it is normally due to low temps in the tank, that stuff strives in lower temps. It can't live long in high temps. I hate meds in my tanks, and refuse to use them unless a last resort. I am not sure if you have all cichlids or what type of fish but with cichlids i would just raise the temp to 80F- 82F and leave it for a week. please make sure you boost the oxygen going in to your tank. add extra bubble stones or another airpump. because when raising temp u lose some oxygen. Keep us updated on this. thanks.

It got off track, but I think we already covered it elsewhere. I use salt and temp treatment if I catch it early, meds if I don't. Ich gets in the gills, and if you catch it too late the temp method and salt could suffocate them even with extra oxygen. If I have to use meds, I do one or two rounds to clear up in gills then follow up with temp and salt.
Main thing is usually disease happens from stress. Treating the disease without fixing the cause of stress means you will always think you need to medicate because fish will always be sick. When in reality they are always sick because they live in a toxic environment.
