i had to remove 1 hap w/ ich to a hospital tank. i did a 40% water change on the 125 . i have added extra air stones and plan to slowly get the tank up to 85 degrees for 10 days. i do not see any ich on the rest of the fish but for sure the 1 hap had it. how about salt? how much for how long? got about 800.00 dollars of fish need to get this fixed!

If it was me i would just keep an eye out for it showing up in the tank again! turning up the Heat , feed NLS, and the air stones should be good to kill it off. Ich cant live in high temps 83F should be high enough to kill it off.... dont use meds on your full tank just on the fish in the hospital tank. How did you end up getting Ich?

Heat will kill it by itself, salt just helps speed things up. I usually do 5 tsp/gallon but build it up slowly. Be careful using meds, some can stain your silicone permanently.

Agree. I never use meds. Feeding your fish new life spectrum really help prevent ich also it gives your fish a really good slime coat preventing ich from being able to attach it self to fish.

Ich has to be introduced somehow...when was the last time you added new fish? If you have a wet net from a contaminated tank and put it into another, you can also spread it, so be careful. But ich cannot survive being dried out. Since the other fish are flashing I would go ahead and continue raising the temp and add salt just to be on the safe side. Make sure you do it for 10 days, too, otherwise there could be a relapse.

Raising temp make it where the. Water will have less oxygen, and if the tank is over stocked the could die. So the more oxygen. You can add to the the tank the better.
I agree I has to be from something introduced to the tank or from a fish that was really ill and weak. Ich will attack them 1st, make sure the. York. Keep the temp up for a few weeks it wont hurt.

I cant really say on the salt, never used it. Now i might add some stresscoat when i do the water chage (more than nomal) to help with the slime coat of the fish also.

5 tsp/gallon is about average. I just use regular salt, something that will dissolve easy.
Edit--I double checked the cichlid-forum and they say 1T/1gallon...for a big tank that is a lot of tablespoon measuring, lol. It also seems to make the water very salty if I remember right. I would try 2-3 T/10 gallons and then double that over time if you actually see spots.
