Jon are you interested in an 18 class course at Ritz-Wolf University? It's held in Nashville and is a $270 ticket. They should be able to teach everything about your camera in a professional manner! Plus some great pointers. Dennis and I each have a ticket and we bought one extra for our daughter but she doesn't have time to do the class. We could always trade for a couple of fish or something. It's best getting some use. If you want us to check time schedules and see if it works for you let me know. Oh yeah--we didn't pay $270 for it. We bought complete camera outfits there and got it really cheap.

Jon, where did you get yours if you don't mind me asking. I have been price shopping here and there and I have found Ebay to have the best prices. Just buy from a trusted source, there are some crooks on Ebay.
I'm wanting to purchase a remote flash and a 105mm macro lens when I buy the body.

Jamie, I got ripped bad. I got it from some ontimedigital.com. They are scam artist and I at least got the camera. I have bought a ton of stuff online and have never been scammed. They are lucky they are in NY and I can't get to them. I have a sigma 105mm macro lens and still need to get a flash. By the time I realized they were crooks I had already given them my card #. Just make sure you review a company before you buy. The place I bought mine from has 17 different business names. I would get the body only online and everything else from a bestbuy or wolf camera.

Nikon D-80....usually use a 50mm 1. lens to shoot fish pics...very good low-light lens.

Awesome, I got the body only when I got mine, and my macro lens is good, but I need a 50mm too because I have to stand in the street to take pics of my tanks in the garage- Do you use the standard flash? or did you by a separate one that goes on top?

I have a separate flash, but you won't need it or the on-camera one. The 1.8 lens lets plenty of light in, and it is the best bargain in the photography world in my opinon. You can get one for about $100 brand new. Here is a review from Ken Rockwell, who is considered one of the foremost authorities on photography and photography equipment. www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/5018daf.htmI see the price has slipped up to the $120-$130 range in some places since I bought mine a few years ago. There are bunches of them available used on e-bay for a great price. +lens&_sacat=See-All-Categories" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=nikon+50mm+1.+lens&_sacat=See-All-Categories(Be Sure to Copy and paste All of that URl or it goes to the wrong page) A word of caution....be sure the lens you get has the "D" in the description. This technology does wonders helping you with lighting using your D-90 camera. If you have any questions about the camera, I can probably help some. It's a fantastic camera. It's an upgrade from my D-80, but this time they really did do some great upgrades rather than just adding a feature or two and bumping the price a few hundred dollars. Wish I had one.

I don't know much about it but I am learning fast. I have always loved photography, and finally took the jump. Is yours a Nikor or does it matter. My macro is a Sigma, but I don't think it has the image stabilizer or whatever the nikor has. I will be asking alot of in this section as I try to figure it out.

Sigma makes a good lens that works well with Nikon, but it does not have the "D" technology that the 50mm 1.8 lens has. I'm guessing your sigma is probably a 3.5 or 4.5 lens. Perfectly fine in normal light, but not so great in low-light situations. If you're not real familiar with photography, the 1.8 is the key here. That means the lens will allow you to shoot at higher speeds in low light. The image stabilizer technology is nice but not at all a must. Feel free to ask any questions....I'll answer what I can.

Jon I've been looking at some of the pics you've posted using the Sigma and they are great. You don't really need a different lens as far as quality goes, but getting a shorter lens could be more convenient I suppose.
