Ya i would love to get, even do a DIY, for my 125, but i dont want to break it down and have no place to put my fish for several days.

dont think you can do a DIY without draining, it would take at least 24 for the silicone to dry and cure some. The foam floats without that step. I think it could be done with totes and buckets and heaters moved and bubblers.

Could those slimline backgrounds by designs by nature be modified to use magnets? In other words, could you silicone several flat magnets to the back of it and it still lie flat and look good against the back of the tank?

No I didn't have to drain my tank...well 5" down was it. The background shipped was $117. All I did was took the rock out and moved the sand from the back and it fit snug under the lip of the tank. Took about an hour even with having to trim.

i'm really considering doing this.
which color did you order?
it looks like the dimensions are 30.75x20 and it says they can be turned sideways. do they not interlock when turned sideways? a 125 is 21" tall so i am wondering if you could get away with 3 horizontal pieces rather than 4 vertical pieces.
