Ya know guys, I have never had any Frontosa. I have however had many an Oscar in the past. I am curious...what is the appeal to so many about the Frontosa ? Is it that the Frontosa has a personality ? I well remember reading and experiencing in the past that the main appeal to the massive oscar was the fact that it was like a pet in that it would make eye contact with you and eat from your hand, and seemed excited to see you when you entered the room. Is that it ? Or is there some reason I am unaware of ? What is the general consensus here ?
I like the color of the Frontosa, and have even considering trying some of the smaller version, yet similar design of colors of the Tretacephalus, but have never had either.
My big fish now-a-days, and most of my tanks, are dedicated to Angelfish.

I like the size and the coloring. They are mildly aggressive, though, mostly to each other.

Do they have personalities like pets, or like Oscars are claimed to possess ?

The alpha male has a personality like the school bully! They like to congregate together. Even my large male that is being chased by the bully stays close by most of the time.

You're probably right. I must have lost track of what I took pictures of! Here are the two big ones rehearsing their synchronized swimming routine.

Yeah there it is! you take really nice pics. love the tank. Thanks. That's the rock I got from my local garden supply store. 12 cents a pound for the flagstone, 10 cents a pound for the river rock. Gravel is from Lowe's. $3.50 for a 1/2 cubic yard bag.

Do they have personalities like pets, or like Oscars are claimed to possess ? In the last colony I raised, The alpha male would come to the top of the tank for hand feeding, he would also skim the top and allow me to pet his bump, he definetly had personality and got me hooked on these fish! They are by far my fav.
