Decided to cap with Eco-Complete instead. Petco had some on sale. I bought two bags, so I hope that's enough.

Let us know if indeed 2 bags was enough for a 75 please. Were they 10# bags ? Eco-complete is an excellent medium, but is usually expensive, although you found it on sale.

I have begun this week a new trial and error project. I received numerous various cuttings from a member off The Planted Tank forum. I decided to use mud soil I have purchased from an outdoor aquatic store. They use this mud in pots for all their aquatics including lotus and water Lily's. When wet, it is like mud clay with some mineral top soil and sand mixed in. I have potted all my new plants into the mud and covered the new soil with a layer of SMS (soil master select). Again, all into various sized plastic pots. They have been planted about a week now, all have stood up now, and all are looking great. Rooting now, I hope. No top growth yet. All under Compact Fl. tubes in various depth tanks. Only 1 tank has Co2 pumped in. The rest have fish but no extra Co2. ie: Angels, Corys, BN Plecos, Rams, Clown Loaches, in various tanks. I will report how they fare as the weeks progress. 1 tank has ramshorn snails present, 1 tank has MTS snails, and 3 tanks have no snails that I am aware of. We'll see how this goes. All tanks are about 75 degrees, ph about 7.2, and GH around 17.

I put in my substrate today. I did an inch of mineralized top soil and about a 3/4 inch of Eco Complete. I probably should have added a 3rd bag of eco-complete, but I filled the tank a 1/4 of the way up and the water is crystal clear. I felt a little cheated when I opened up the bag of eco-complete. There was extra water sealed in the bag. I'd say it was around 3 lbs worth. I'm going to start a tank thread on the planted tank forum, but if you all don't mind, I'll post the link here as well.

I started out wanting some Hygrophilia polysperma, but for those of you who know of different types of plants, these have been placed on a weed list in the entire U.S.A.. I have had them before and they won't survive our winters here, as I have tried them and that is a fact, but they remain on a banned list and fellow hobbyists who do have this plant are afraid to share it now. Have some. Can and will share. Sorry, I just saw this. ;D

Do you have plans to be my way sometime soon ? You do remember I live in Franklin, correct ? If we could even meet half way that would save a bunch on travel time. In a word to answer your question...yes...or... sure... or... great...or...OK.

We would have to plan this though. Again, if you have plans to be this way, let me know when and I'll see how my time allows for me to meet up with ya. I wouldn't want you to go our of your way.
