I have a large pair of Comps that have bred for me about 30 times in the past year. I don't have time to raise them properly. I have spawned calvus before at my house, and I raised them on pellets that I put in a coffee grinder, egg yoke, and crumbled flake. I fed 6-8 times+ a day and did a small water change every other day. I removed parents from tank and it took a long time for them to reach 1".
With this pair on this spawn, I have left the fry with the parents. What I have noticed is the female will go and get the pellets and bring them back to the babies like a mother bird. When she gets over the hole, she chews the pellet, and then pushes what looks like most of it out her gills. It is now small enough for the fry to eat.
I don't know for certain if they will survive too long like this, because I think the male may eat them at some point, but right now he is all about protecting them to the point he tries to bite your hand through the glass. I will get a video of him if I can remember today and post, he is pretty cool. Someone(unnamed) posted a pic of the pair in the photo contest this month(not my pic).
A large pair of Calvus/ Compressiceps is about the coolest fish I can think of fresh or salt. There are so many color variants of both that it is hard to choose. I prefer the yellow calvus, but these orange comps are starting to make me reconsider.

I bred altolamps before. (various kinds) and the only real down side is it would take a year to get any size to them. I left them with the parents untill about 1/3" and then moved them. The Parents usually were ok with them and they usually hid in the shell when the male got to close. I'm glad you have had so much success breeding them.

My success ends with the spawn. I spend about an hour a day in the room, and a few hours over the weekend. I need to put an auto feeder on it because the only fry I have raised successfully I fed many times a day I will leave them until they get a little size and remove male.
