For those people that don't visit the forum very often and may have their PM's being sent to their personal email, do you think it would be beneficial to send out a PM to everyone reminding them to get their pics in? I may be alone in this, but I personally do not like "mass mail" PM's. I figure that's what the announcement section of the board is for, and I prefer my personal messages to actually be personal. Maybe I'm just antisocial . -Rick (the armchair aquarist)

Hey rickl.
Most folks don't mind mass PM or e-mails, especially since it reaches many who don't log on a lot.
Some of us are on the forum every day, some several times per day, such as you and I and a few others, but alas, some never. We want to be sure all know we are growing and have things happening here that they can be a part of.
All hobbyists like to chat about their stock, even the ones with a single tank, but many read our multi-tank delimas and our fish room talk and feel left out with their one tank hobby, so they don't visit us often. We want ---ALL--- registered members to be a part of our group, and that is the goal with the occasional mass e-mails or mass PM's.
If you so desire to be left out of this loop, all you have to do is go to your profile page and change your status on this option and you can be left out. Just be aware that means you will miss out on mass greetings like major holidays, any mass announcements, and on any club business, urgent or not, that is ever sent via this route. It is totally your choice.
If you have any further questions on it, feel free to send me a PM or an e-mail and I'll assist as I can for you.
Respectively, Rick

Hey rickl. Most folks don't mind mass PM or e-mails, especially since it reaches many who don't log on a lot. Funny enough, mass e-mails I don't mind lol. And I totally understand the desire/need to easily reach the membership. I have no intention of opting out of mass emails. I think it's all about expectations -- when I get an alert that I have a PM waiting, I get all excited that someone from the MCAA has something to say to me in particular . I drop what I'm doing to go see what they had to say. When I get an email from the MCAA I figure it's some general announcement, and I read it when I get around to it. Like I said -- I may very well be alone in this distinction between emails and PM's, but just figured i'd voice my opinion in case I'm not . -Rick (the armchair aquarist, who actually WANTS the mass emails, and will tolerate the mass PM's )
