What are you feeding to your fish? I'm curious if people are buying for the high-priced stuff like NLS or have found something less pricey they and their fish are happy with. Also, anyone making their own food?
I've been using Hikari pellets mostly for the carnivores, but my fish seem to be getting pretty tired of it. I also toss in some frozen foods once or twice a week - like bloodworms or brine shrimp. Those are always sucked down fast. And when I do a 'Critter run, I usually pick up a tsp of live brine shrimp as a treat.
For algae-eaters, I feed various brands of algae tablets. All of the ones I've found are mostly fish meal, even the "better" brands. But they always get eaten up pretty fast.
(BTW, if this thread belongs in another place in the forum, someone please move it. I couldn't figure out where to put it. Maybe start a General Care and Feeding section?)

I was thinking we had already created a thread on this subject, but I don't seem to be able to locate it. I use Tetra-min flakes, several types of pellet foods, frozen blood worms and frozen brine shrimp, and live microworms and BBS. Fresh zucchini for the BN Pleco's too on occasion. I believe in the old adage of "variety is the spice of life."

I feed mine a variety of things. Tetra Flakes, Tetra Cichlid Sticks (only the bigger frontosas will eat those), Angels Plus Spirulina Mix, Sera Plecos Crisps (for the plecos, corys, and bristlenoses), Tetra Freeze Dried BloodWorms, frozen brine shrimp with Selcon Concentrate Food Booster.
My fish eat better than I do!
I have a big can of Tetra Cichlid Pellets but no one will eat them. I will bring them to the business meeting later this month if someone wants them. Same price I paid for them - free.

I buy all my foods from Jon. The food they like the best that i get from him is his frozen homemade food. I get 4 types of food from e. Some help the fish naturally color up, some has some meds and veggies, and some helps the fish grow a little faster. Since i have been getting my foods from him my fish are definetly looking even more healthy and active then they were and the colors are amazing. My small peacocks are getting amazing colors even at a small size and my adult fish to include my synodontis look i. What i like about it the most is its natural and not that fake hormone crap.

I saw an earlier thread where you mentioned this, but I went to Jon's site and couldn't find anything about food on it. Does he still sell it?

I normally just feed mine bacon bits and leftover french fries
jk- My question is what are some strange things you feed your fish. For example every time I see a cricket outside or an earthworm I make sure to grab it up as a tasty treat for my fish

I'm just using NLS for the cichlids, a random tropical flake for Jack's guppies, and random algae tabs for Lexi's plecos (one in each tank). With only the two tanks, though, an $8 tub of NLS will last me a long time. Of course, I'm already contemplating adding a grow-out tank for the babies . Being a renter is preventing MTS from setting in with a vengeance though. -Rick (the armchair aquarist)

Fishguy- I dont advertise foods on website because for the most part I just buy for myself and get a little extra for you guys. I will start carrying omega one brand for resale soon, but it is pricey. I usually get bulk from farm and it is cheaper. It is comparable to kensfish pellets. I have a fry formula, growth formula, and color formula
my best seller is the spirulina flakes. 1st ingredient is spirulina
I am giving omega one a chance because I like the super kelp pellets, supercolor, and marine w/garlic
They only use whole fish and no meal. Nor do they use lots of fillers. Before I start pushing it I am going to see if I see the cost benefit.
homemade food is flavor of the day. Other than the earthworms, everything in it is for human consumption
