I scored a New Old Stock 20 gallon Metaframe aquarium on eBay today. It still has the original stickers on the glass even. That was pretty cool find IMO. I'm going to set it up with all vintage period accessories and leave the slate bottom exposed, so no gravel.

What are you going to stock it with? I don't know yet. Something that would have been available in the 1960s (but not goldfish).

I think 4 glass catfish would be neat in there, but I'm not sure about their tank requirements.

Yes, those are pretty interesting. They liked planted aquariums, or at least plastic plants. Online info says they like company too, and 4 to 6 is recommended. One site says 10.

I have kept ghost catfish several times and i have always kept in groups of four. They are very interesting and school together.

Exposing the black slate bottom would look good with old fashioned " Jim Axelrod " neon or cardinal tetras in a shoal, with some standard brown cory cats of the day. Just a thought. Great find. These tanks are rare. I have several, but none set up. All are in storage. Did you happen to get the old metal, silver, light fixture of the day with it? That is a rare find as well.

I wish I had gotten the hood. THAT would have been a find with the tank. I have one for a 5-gallon and one for a 10-gallon but not for a 20... yet. There is one for a 20 long on eBay right now, so the size is slightly off. Last month there was a tank, hood, and stand that went on eBay for close to $500. It was nice. Not a Metaframe but similar, but with angled sides (wider at the top that the bottom). It was very cool. It was near Chicago so would have had another $160 in shipping it.

I'm on my work computer and e-bay is blocked to me. How much is the 20L hood and is it incadescent or flour ? Where is it located ?
