IF you are doing bare glass bottom(no gravel) an automatic water change system is highly recommended by a lot of "fishroom" people. Takes a lot of the labor out. DIY auto systems are not terribly expensive(google it . That's just my 2 cents.

Quick update.
Weve been grinding on all our metal stands, and painting them. As well, weve framed in the room, and hung green board. Weve also footprinted for the tanks, and equipment. PVC will be run for air, and a 500 gallon back up for water changes is also in there. A separate sub panel was wired for the room, so we are truly stand alone. Ventilation is also ready to be dropped in.
I think were running out of room already, and weve barely begun. This weekend should be the final throws of construction, and we can get started setting it all up.
Tank count: 8 x 20 long 10 x 20 gallon 15 x 29 gallon 12 x 55 gallon 2 x 135 gallon
Mike and I both have full time jobs, and then some, so its been going a bit slower than we had intended, but were still on track.

LoL, I think we all have decided we have run out of room, whether we are keeping our fish in a dedicated fishroom or within the house. Sounds like you are going to have a nice set-up. Refresh my memory, incase you have already said, where are you located ? And,... keep us posted of the progress !

Hidely Ho guys, sorry for the delay in an update, but sometimes life gets in the way. The room is coming along nicely. Racks have all been sanded and painted. Insulated green board installed with insulation, and painted black. MIke made a great rack for 29's which was invaluable to space on our footprint. THe blower was installed on the outside of the home, and it all piped in with minimum drop of 2 lines per tank. There was 3x40 amp circuits added to the already installed spare "garage box from the power gods". Dehumidifier is piped in for good measure, and 500 gallon holding to 'cure' water. We both would have loved to have it set up by now, but Mikes an engineer, and I run a 24 hour towing business. Slowly, but steadily we are getting there. Tanks are now mostly in place. Heres some pics... Attachments:

Ben129 said previously, "I think were running out of room already, and weve barely begun."

crap. I had a few more images, but they were too big for the forum. ..... but it looks just like a fish room. Ironically, I have a couple commercial properties, and weve already discussed booting some of my tenants, so we can have MUCH MORE ROOM, but thats just selfish. Mike and I plan on coming out to the swap... so I look forward to putting some faces to names.

Hello all. Been real busy this summer and haven't been on the computer at all.
Mike and I are holding tight, and the fish room has been up and running for a few months now. Had some ups and downs, but things are well overall.
Final tally: 3 x 10 gl 2 x 20 gl 15 x 29 gl 12 x 55 gl 4 x 135 gl. 1 x 240 gl 1 x 300 gl
Mike did a great job on airing/powering the room. Each bank of tanks has all it needs, and nothing is in the way. Blower was installed outside next to the pond filtration, so we dont have to listen to that. 300 gallon reserve is filtered and aerated. Rooms all painted dark, and optimal lighting is in place.
Some things we need: MORE SPACE. glass tops heaters racks If you have any of this stuff in quantity, please let me know.
Currently, we are foolishly contemplating moving the room to larger quarters. Weve mapped out a footprint in the warehouse that involves a rough space of 24 x 35 with high ceilings. If we take our time, we can engineer the fish room 2.0 and correct a lot of things we overlooked on the first one. THis is all still strictly for enjoyment, but were happy to sell some of the babies..
Having said that, we should be at the swap this weekend. If you have "stuff" in quantity that we might could use, please let me know.
Hope all is well with everyone. Sorry weve been off the grid, but with work, family, play and life.... lets just say, the summer isnt made for sitting in front of the computer.
Hope to see some smiling faces saturday.

Excellent updates ! Pictures on the forum would be nice, but.....also.....bring pic's with you to the swap/meet to share. Bunches of us have fish rooms or dream of them, and always like new ideas and advice on each others shortfalls so we don't make the same mistakes.

On that same subject,..... we might have a round table type discussion on Sat. for fishroom folks to share their ideas/shortfalls with the rest of the group. Several of you, I am sure, have a lot to say on this topic.
