I have been very interested in this fish for about a year now, but could never find them in the states and wasn't buying fish from Thailand. I just found a shop in the states now that carries wild caught Albimarginata Bettas. Yes its a betta not what I'm usually into but thought I would try something different and maybe make a few bucks of this. What intrigued me about this betta was one I think they really cool, but my entire life I thought all bettas were egg layers. Well this type are mouth brooders and thought it would be nice to watch these breed and learn from them. Plus these fish like planted tanks so it gives me a chance to get my feet wet into plants. I'm not going to be setting up anything fancy so I'll probably just get some low light plants cause I don't want to get any expensive lights or co2 system. So I'll be very limited with what plants I can use and the only thing I can think of is Java fern. If anyone has any clippings I would be very interested. I'm also looking for some small pieces of driftwood if anyone knows were to get some from. I'm going to be buying about 6 of these for $16 each and housing them in a 20g long or 29g and looking to get one pair or best outcome 2 pairs. I would like to get the plants and driftwood now so i could start getting the tank ready and have the plants start growing and if things work out right I'll be hopefully buying the fish within the next month. So i guess the help I'm needing now is if anyone can tell me were to purchase the the small pieces of driftwood and plants now and there is any other plants I could try. My local fish store sells some plants for like a few bucks each but not sure if i should be worried about snails or anything. Is there something I should look at on the plant to decide if i should buy it or not. Meaning like we do with fish looking to see how active it is, nipped fins and ect. Thanks everyone.
