Here's some pics of the regular BN fry and parents. The male is in the tube and the females nose is sticking out from under the driftwood. I was hoping to get a better pic of the female, but she wouldn't budge. These are in a 100 gal tank. Here's a pic of my new female, which is almost black, that I can't wait to get some fry from. She spawned with the large ABN when I had them in quaranteen, but I disposed of those eggs. Didn't want mixed blood lines. It's really hard to see her next to the black background. Here's some of the latest fry that I have in a 10 gal tank.

Thanks Glen. I'll get a better picture for you at feeding time tomorrow. I'll try to get a drop back pick of the whole 100 gal tank. There's probably around 160 fry in there with the parents right now. I woke them up when I went out to get you the pics. You can see a couple of my, quarter size, platinum gold angelfish sleeping on the bottom.

They are very cute... all my BNs that are breeding are in with Angels that are big enough and pigglish enough to eat the fry as soon as they venture out.

How much you sell your BN juvies for?

This is the same price I've told others in the club. 1" for $2.00 and 1 1/4" $3.00. By the time of the swap meet I'll probably have some pushing 1 1/2" maybe. We'll see how fast they grow. I'm planning on being at the swap, so if you want me to bring you some just let me know.

Ill let you know. Im trying to brerd mine right now, but may buy some different ones. Another question is my problem im having is I can only put like two BN in a tank, even my 125 that I have a powerhead in, cause they produce so much waste. The produce double to triple the amount of anything else I have.

They do produce more waste, especially the large one's. That's why I thoroughly vacuum every tank each week and do a 50% water change each week also.

Im the same way. When trying to breed them though do you just vaccum around the rocks and other decor or do you move that also

Clean h20 is good, but, IMO, but you should stay clear of their breeding areas if they have set up house. A big h20 change can even trigger them to spawn if they are already conditioned and well feed. IMO, a little debris is not necessarily a bad thing.

I move everything but the plants bnoel210. Rick, you are right. They usually will breed right after the water change, if the female is ready. Also it has never bothered mine to move the breeding tubes when cleaning. If he's fanning fry, I just move the tube out of the way to vacuum and then put it back where I had it. Glen, here's some better pics of the tank and adult parents. Here's the male and female parents of these fry. Here's the female parent. The male and female are only about 3" to 3 1/2" long. Here's a pic of both females. You can see how much darker the new female is compared to the parent female. I have a large bn male that I'm going to breed her with later.

Those fry look cute. Do the parents protect the fry?

The male protects the fry until they are out of the tube. Then they are on their own. You wouldn't want any hungry cichlids around when they come out of the tube. LOL.....
