Watching the healthcare debate the last couple of days in Washington made me realize that I need to start saving money so I can move to an island to escape the insanity. I am neither a republicrat or a demopublican so when I hear the sheep on both sides repeat the bulletpoints it let's me know whoever is in control will drive us off the cliff.
I am a libertarian that thinks Ron Paul is a bad example sometimes of what one should be. I am against this bill, I think government keeps chopping away at freedom.
They tax you 100 different ways your entire life and then tax you again when you die on money they already taxed. Everything the government touches it messes up.
What sucks is every other place on earth is messed up worse than here.

I agree. I think to battle the rising cost of healthcare we just need to leave it in the private sector. Pass a good Tort reform. And Stop allowing people to use the ER as a doctors office and then leaving the bill for all of us to pay. The high cost is mainly due to the Dr's cost of insurance. If we can fix that by putting a stop to all the fraudulent malpractice suits then cost will drop. Also I am not keen on the Federal Government mandating I buy anything. I say leave it up to the states.

Probably giving away my age here but I often compare what it was like going to the doctor's office 20 years ago to now. 1992 typical doctor's office: One doctor, one nurse who also served as receptionist. Arrive on time, see doctor, pay bill, go home. Elapsed time: 15 minutes; cost: $25.
2012 typical doctor's office: Three doctors, three nurses, two receptionists, two additional office workers, three physician's assistants and/or nurse practitioners. Arrive on time, fill out five forms (same forms as last time with same answers as last time except the date), wait 45 minutes to see the doctor, see the PA instead, pay bill, go home. Elapsed time: 90 minutes; cost $125.

If you think healthcare is expensive now, imagine what it will be like when healthcare is free for everybody!

Looks like it might get overturned. The lawyer, clement agruing against the law is one of the most brilliant attorneys in the country. I read transcript and the justices were trying to box him in, and he made them look pretty stupid. Two years ago when this passed my insurance went up a ton and they cut my benefits.

This overspending has to stop. Taxes have to get lower. Fact of life- raise taxes, collect less revenue from taxes. Why? Because business has to lay off employees to pay tax and can't invest. Consumers spend less because they make less. People that have been laid off dont make money and go on unemployment. It goes round and round. Macro economics and taxes would suggest that lowering taxes would mean more tax revenue. Why? Because money exchanges hands at a faster rate resulting in higher revenue from a lower tax.
