Ok a while back I got 5 juli marlieri from Glen they have been doing great and have grown to about 2.5-3" . I also got 4 Transcriptus from him. Only two made it as they tried to kill each other in the bag but anyways. The two that survived have been doing great. and were in the same tank with the other julies and some small fronts and 4 small tropheus (about 1.5") and also with my Neolamprologus Mondabu about 1.5" now aswell. Anyways I got out last night to see one of my transcriptus being pounded in the corner by the tropheus and Mondabu I freak cause it looks bad. I get net it out and its on its last fin. after separating it, It died a few minutes later.
So then I notice I didnt see any of the other Julies in the tank. I start looking and moving rocks. And One by One I find each of them dead and beat to an Oblivion even the 3" ones They had large bites out of their sides on two of them. I was so pissed. I love Julies and They wiped them out in one night. After some research I found out the bites were from the Mondabu They are known for the fang like teeth. They build a system of tunnels under the sand and rocks and guard them like demons. They are known for killing shellies for the same reason. They dont like other bottom dwellers near their homes.
I think the tropheus Jumped in just because they are mean SOB's anyway and were just showing their usual restraint.
PS> Glen I still have four of the midnight julies left. They were kept in a tank alone to grow out some. I did loose two The week I got them. They never made it out of the Quarantine tank. It was the two smallest ones and I never could get them to eat. The others are doing great.
