Ok to make a long story short. I bought my Camera from Best Buy in December of 2010. Well the great little salesman talked me in to getting the $75 warranty upgrade because in his words" You can even throw it on the ground and break it then bring it up here and they will give you an upgraded model". So I was like sweet! Camera works fine for a year and a half and then every other day would throw up a lens error and I would have to take the battery out to fix it. So I took it to Best Buy thinking I would just get it replaced. Um no. They have to send it off to Texas to be repaired....after 30 minutes arguing with them about what the employee had told my I just gave in and said send it. So I am getting updates about from email and the last update last Thursday claimed "Picked up by customer-Ticket Closed" . I called Best Buy to find out exactly what happened and who picked it up and they claim they shipped it to my residence on the 5th but can not supply me with a tracking number. Well now they are telling me they dont know why my camera isnt here yet. Im so mad! Ok end rant. carry on carry on

Same.... I don't buy from best buy due to the 'geek squad'...
here's why. I have a huge background in IT ... so does my friend who had the exact same mentor as I ... he applied to the geek squad... they refused to hire him citing he was more qualified than the manager. He wasn't looking for more money or anything.
My thoughts, if someone who is qualified is refused who are they really putting in there 'elite' squad.
Hell I've gone in and asked some questions that any 'geek' would know. They have yet to this day been able to answer my question correctly.
Feel free to ask them...
"What device is the best for a network to send information on... a switch, hub or router?"
By default they will say a router, as technically speaking it's the best generally speaking compared to a typical switch and hub. Honestly hubs are the worst regardless.
However a Layer 4 switch actually is more superior than routers. why? due to how they send packets. Most employees at best buy are not trained at the technical level... so let them crash and burn. Hell the CEO resigned today. 50 stores are closing... 400 employees out of a job... wonder why? think about it... they can't do what they say they can.
I pray you get a camera back and is good working condition. But I have a feeling they wont be able to do anything other than maybe give you another one.
Look, if you buy a warranty and do the trade in thing with them... they make money... good money. regardless if you trade in to upgrade or not. Lets face the facts, even if they 'upgrade you' ... you paid say 600 when you got yours news. Two years later that is now a 300-400 camera, due to how fast the electronics advance. They upgrade your camera to one that is better... only paying out 300-450 bucks. You take the rate they pay for it, it's more like 100 bucks. Which ironically is close to what you probably paid for the insurance. In turn, they lost nothing when it comes back down to it.
sk!ttlesty system for a sk!ttlesty company. I would love to see them crash and burn as a company. Not for the economy or people losing jobs... but just to show america you can't rely on a big name that buys out there competitors.

DITTO-DITTO-DITTO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have a management team, then regional supervisors, then corporate headquarters. Climb the ladder and clean house on every level !!! Mention calling T.V. stations for public commentary folks to assist you. Mention calling all newspapers and posting on any website you find them on, including e-bay and amazon. Mention blackballing everywhere you can and give specifics.
Now I will say you said you had it a year and a half, so I am presuming your warranty/guarantee was only a year and you may not have had coverage any more, but they lost your item and you must require them to give it back or replace it.
Do you have any paper work or e-mail you can copy ? Copy everything and start a file and force your hand.
Accountability is the key we all play by, and they ain't no exception.
I've been done this way before, and the game I had to play took several months and included a local chain pet store, but satisfaction was achieved eventually.
Stand your ground. Keep us posted please.

This is kind of a pet peve of mine. I have to be accountable for folks lives in my profession, yet so many others aren't held to the same standard. It "urks" me. How many times is my order wrong when I go through a drive through. How hard is it anyway ? Same thing applys here.

yup agreed... My brother ran a fast food restaurant... lets just say his crew rarely got something wrong. Matter of fact they could take your order and get it to you within 120 seconds. Blazing fast orders. Just most employees as it turns out loved cocaine. Which ended up being supplied by my neighbor who was the other manager. lol
Anyways give them hell... but be polite during it. Don't back down and hold your ground.
I'm assuming if they took the camera then you had the warranty info for them or they had it on file. Keep us posted.

LOL i learned about 10 years ago not to trust the POOP SQUAD.
It makes me LOL when people pay them 99$ to clean viruses off thier cpus. when all they do is is wipe your hard drive and do a recovery! lol That is a free job. they are to retarded to be able to surch out the problem and get rid of it with out wipping the harddrive.
I never pay for upgraded services on stuff like that, because half the time they just make u use the manufactures warrinty.. Apple "Mac" however is a great inssurance to upgrade! I was given a I pod buy a friend the screen cracked I walk in to the store make an appintment have some one look at the ipod for 3 min, and he says brb, comes back with a new Ipod touch! lol.... then says do you want to pay 50$ to renew your inssurance it has 4 months left on it. Heck yeah i did.
same thing happend with my little girls I pad touch. She dropped it and busted the screen. 5 min replacment.

As a former employee, they really had some screwed up policies/procedures handed down from management.
The issue was high profit items (warranty, $100.00 cables for TVs) being pushed to make up for the razor thin margins. The cheap stuff you can get anywhere, and I cannot imaging anyone buying high end gear (why they bought Magnolia) from them, leaving the mid range stuff. Too much overhead, zero training for sales, and management that was only numbers focused.
I miss having a Fry's nearby.
theconsumerist runs all kinds of stories of people having issues with BB.

Here's how I look at it. Say I want a 65" TV... cause see I have one lol... they cost brand new say 1500... you can go to a buy here pay here store like Aaron's. They will sell it to you for that price. Now you'll pay "monthly" but as long as it's payed off in 6 months you have no interest. You strictly pay for the actual price of the item. They make some because it's a store and buy it less than retail.
However, you get a 2 year warranty on it. Either they fix it or replace it... very simple.
Now the part where normal people get screwed is not paying it off in 6 months. By not paying it off you now double the price. Granted he warranty now can become a 3 year one, lol. However with Aaron's say you don't pay off in 6 months just send it back and don't pick it back up. :-)
Just saying... just because someone has a great price doesn't mean I'm not willing to pay an extra hundred bucks to avoid them. :-)
