I just did some reading on hlle and now im curious. This fish has gone through a lot. When he was about an inch long I took decorations out of the tank and I didnt know he was hiding in one till about an hour later when I started to put the deco back in the tank. He looked dead so I threw him in the toilet and he started to swim a little so I scooped him out and revived him back to life and named him Rocky. But yes he has had that line since he was about .75" and now he is 6". He eats like a champ and active as all could be.

Whats HLLE? I have had a few syno's over the year with a line just like that. They grew big and stayed healthy.

I googled it and looks like its an effect from hole in the head caused by bad diet.

I have always thought it was just a bad blood line, but I love this guy so it doesnt bother me.

head and lateral line erosion
there is debate as to the cause but some suspect diet, others suspect stress.
i know of it because my synodontis had it. he's recovered now but still bears the scars as it never fully heals. he grew big and healthy as well... it isn't always life threatening.

To be honest I kind of like the white dotted pattern that forms the line. Gives Rocky some character lol.

Great looking pics Brian! I'm also glad you added the names to them. I'm still trying to learn a lot of the cichlid names. Thanks

Thanks Drew and your welcome for the names. There are a few other fish I didn't get a pic of so next time I take pics of the 125 i'll get them for you. I'll also be taking pics of my other tanks here soon and start another thread and for now on i'll add names. I should have been doing that from the start, but I get lazy sometimes..........ok i get lazy often lol.
