Hey all. I was just reading over the upcoming swap meet thread and I have a few questions..
First I would like to say, that I have been to the Charlie Daniels park and being a mother of 2 toddlers, I think it's a great location. That being said, it is my first swap if I am able to attend so I have nothing to compare and have no expectations so... yeah.. ( I found it was pretty easy to get to, my MIL lives about 15 minutes away and we found it no problem)
So how does this swap thing work? If someone sees a fish they want, there is an auction for it, so it would go to highest bidder? Is that understanding correct? And what about other stuff? Is there a Swap portion to this, or just auction?
I am interested in coming, I am not a club member just a forum member, does that make a difference? Anyway, If I can, I might talk a few of my planted tank member friends to come along, if possible.
Thanks for any info you all might feel like sharing with a new forum member!!

The last one I went to had both a swap and auction... The auction was things that were donated by the members and others and the money went to the club. Then the other transactions were swaps. I like it that way! I think there might have been a table fee for sellers? I don't remember. I like the idea of a table fee OR donation for club auction.

I'm pretty sure there's a table fee for non-members, but free for members. Last time, lots of people had made arrangements to buy/sell/trade ahead of time, and brought (or bought) fish for that purpose. Others brought fish and dry-goods that they offered for sale. Many people also brought items (both fish and dry goods) for the auction, all of the money from which went to the club.
I believe Glen and Jon are both going to be running "Swap meet specials", with discount pricing but you'll have to contact them ahead of time and tell them what you want so that they know what to bag up and bring with them.

So, would there be a fee for a non member such as myself to attend? I haven't much to bring, maybe some plants or peppered corydoras, and have no intention of selling anything. If I decide to bring anything, it would be for trades or just a random act of kindness. I am primarily wondering about spending some of my money, and how that part of the swap works for us forum only folks...
Thanks again

There is no fee to just come. Non members if I remember correctly just had to pay if they were selling anything

Alright cool. I just might be there since I have a family member graduating the night before and I will be right up the road. And with my mother in law, I have a built in sitter while the kids play at the park.. It sounds like a win win to me!!
