I believe that Thorace also said he was bringing his bristlenose babies to the swap. Ken from Bamaplants will be bringing Nerite snails, so looks like there should be a good selection of algae busting options for us!

try a cheap timer on your light... run it a couple hours on a couple hours off... this will help slow your algae growth... add some salvinia or azolla to float on top and thereby reduce K value of light reaching the bottom...both plants will also act as nitrate sponges thereby reducing available nutrients and need for constant water changes.. there is a fine line between water changes for fish health and excessive water changes that can actually encourage algae growth. also--I don't know what lights you are running ( intensity or K value) BUT by increasing the intensity or K value you can probably encourage green algae which will then compete with the brown... the competition will reduce the over all algae load... AND the green ( if you have Malawi cichlids, esp mbuna and many tangs) is a good food source ( and a natural food source) so they can help to keep it under control
