It looks so good it's a shame to have it in the Wreck Room! I guess putting down flooring's dead in the water now I'm lovin' the LED light bars!

Great job- I'll post my pics of my similar project that I wish I would have put the extra effort into. If I ever get motivated I might just break out the spray paint.

Hey Dennis, that looks excellent. The double row of blocks in the middle not only give extra support but give it a bit more style I think.

you guys are bringing me back to my childhood days where the local pet stores would setup tanks with steps made of concrete blocks and 2X4's Nice Job Joe

What is the foam under the tank for? To let it settle if the floor isn't even or something?
I am either going to have to do something like this, have a stand made, or order one for the dang 180 in my garage. The metal stand it is on is just too tall and wife won't let it in the house. (Tank is on plywood cut to size, which is on the stand.)
Lowest price to order one I could find was about $500 before s/h. I think it was that glasscages website.
Anybody know any good woodworkers or know any decent places that sell furniture like this?

Dennis can help you build one of these if you want. And, the foam gives added support because you never know if something isn't even for one thing(wood is imperfect) and it fills up the air between the glass and the wood .The frame sits lower so there's always a gap. Less stress on the glass and seals I'd think. Oh, and each one of those spaces where the "shelves" are is big enough to hold a 10 gallon. Babies? Brine shrimp tank for babies?

Nebelhund, I built one of these, and I can tell you in all sincerity, if I can do it, anybody can. I'm about the least handy person you ever saw, but this is very easy. If you buy the 2x4 and plywood and such at Lowe's or wherever, they'll even cut it for you. You just have to assemble it and paint it.

This is a great thread! Everyone's stands look incredible! I can't get over how easy it sounds. I have a 75 in need of a stand and this sounds like a great, easy, cheap way to do it.
The LED lights are awesome looking--where do you find those?

I found them on ebay but do not buy them. All 5 of them burned out within a month. A waste of $50.

Ouch. Tough luck, Tina. I was interested in some of them, too, so thanks for keeping us updated.
