I was just going over my weekend plans and found this statement on the website for the Charlie Daniels park, the Playground will not be open, it is currently under construction/demolition until next weekend. This affects how long I will be able to stay since I will have my tots in tow, so I thought I would also share with anyone else who might have had plans to entertain their kids as well. www.cityofmtjuliet.org/charliedaniels.cfm |

I checked and double checked, it has the date posted as 2012. I had thought maybe it was last year. I'm pretty disappointed, because I was hoping to stay for a good while but with the temps and nothing much for the kids to do, it will be difficult. I am going to see what we have to bring in the way of toys, balls to kick around in the field. That might just buy me a little time!!

I am sooo mad if it is truely closed! We paid money to have the swap there BECAUSE there was a playground for the kids.

That kind of stinks. But, depending on how many kids show up they may have fun among themselves. My daughter will be there and we will see what we can bring along.

I AM SOOOOO DISAPPOINTED TO LEARN THIS NEWS !!!
Rest assured I will be asking for the $ back next week when I speak with these folks !
On a positive note, we had previously planned to only cancel in the event of a storm. Rain or shine---we were on. So please still plan to attend !!!
I had /have multiple copies of aquatic coloring pages for the kids and many aquatic circle a word games with colored markers for them to share, in the event of rain. I'll still bring them.
If you like the idea presented above of water guns, can one or two of you sign up, right here in this thread and offer to go by the dollar store and pick up a couple of bags of the squirt guns for them ? Shouldn't cost to much.
I am sorry this has happened ! We'll work around it.
Any other ideas we can come up with for the kids, before tomorrow, that will take a little planning on any of our parts ?
I reckon some blankets to lay on the ground and some personal toys might be in order.
Maybe a portable ball tent to offer some shade.
Not sure if this will be needed, but I have not been to this park and don't know size of pavillion or if there is shade trees or not.
Other ideas ?
We need to brainstorm a bit...

If my wife and I could have made it... wife is at a teacher conference this weekend, so we can't make it.
My wife could watch the kids and keep them going, pending their ages that is. lol she loves the young ones.

I have my kids little 3 wheel scooters, some large kick balls and a wagon. The wagon will have dual uses as I am sure to be using it as well. I cannot guarantee this, but I am going to try and get some water guns and a water jug to fill it with, i suppose. I know there is a water fountain but I don't know id we will have access to it since it is near the playground. We shall see

I will be getting off work @ 7 a.m. and heading home to gather and get ready to be there by 12 to cook the dogs, so....I will try to remember to see if there are any water guns left laying around that the grandkids have left @ our house, and a great suggestion, I will fill a couple of used milk jugs with H2O for the guns too.
I have a lot of items on my list, so I'll try to remember.
