All of my fish are acclimated and doing just fine. I really enjoyed the swap meet today, and I enjoyed putting faces to many names that I've seen on the forum.
I vote for 3 swap meets per year, and it would be nice to have an indoor shelter available for situations like we had today. I'm just glad that the bad weather didn't last any longer than it did!

We got in about 11 our time, and acclimated everyone to their respective tanks. Most were happy to eat, and settle.
Thanks to all of you for today. It was great to meet everyone that we did and look forward to the next meet.

I am always thrilled to read that you all had a good time and found some items of use to buy or trade for, and that many find buyers for items they can re-cycle instead of throwing them away.
I also, always hope the selection of speakers @ our swap/meets meet various needs of the member body as a whole. I realize that not every member every time will benefit from the subjects put forth to you, but that is the very reason we have a variety for each swap/meet. It is now time to start planning for the events for the October Fall event.
I wish the weather had been kinder to us yesterday, but alas we all lived thru it w/o incident. It did delay us by an hour or so, thus, there were a few items we shot thru so quickly, that they were hardly even discussed. We can just pick up where we left off come Fall.
As I mentioned to all of you yesterday, this is your all's club, and as a leader for you, I want us to grow in the directions you all desire. For a group like ours with a diverse background of interests, being that we are not just a Cichlid club or just a Plant club, or a Guppy club, we need to have a broad definition and broad ideas of how we want to pursue our dynamics for member participation. The ideas of live plants in your tanks, even your Cichlid tanks, is an example of this. Also, the BAP and CARES programs are examples. We don't have to participate exactly by any other groups rules or policies. We can create our own if you all desire. Participation for fun is the goal here.
A suggestion given to me yesterday is this..........(and I will present in further detail later) A member breeds a particular fish, any fish. That member brings 20 or so young fry from that spawn, all siblings born @ same time. That members hands out 1 fry to each member willing to participate in this. (free) Those 20 or so fry are taken home, 1 to a member. They are kept in whatever tank size and setting you desire. They are kept in whatever environment you desire. They are fed whatever you desire. They are all brought back to the following swap/meet. A panel of judges of your peers rates them on which grew the biggest and which has the best color, Two awards are given for those 2. Then more folks go home with more fry to start the contest again.
A type of BAP program between us that does not follow the specific guidelines of the BAP, but works for our group and within our group.
Feel free to comment on this or other ideas. I only know we need to have all of you participating in events to keep our club fresh and with an appearance of invitation to outsiders who want to come on board to be part of a ever growing group of folks like yourselves.
FANTASTIC TO SEE ALL OF YOU YESTERDAY !!! HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE DOGS ! THANKS TO ALL THAT SUPPLIED CONDIMENTS, SIDES, DRINKS, DESSERTS, ETC... COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT W/O ALL OF YOU !!!

Ben and I had a great time, and it was very nice meeting everyone. Even with the construction traffic, and the storm, we still enjoyed ourselves. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. All the stock we brought back are already eating and seem happy. Can't wait 'till the next one!

I thought swap was great, food was a plus. Hopefully we made enough in auction to cover cost. Even with rain, hail, no playground, and so on, I had great day. We have time to find a great place, so start looking now. This park has indoor facility, but it is pricey. I would like a place similar, but indoors and cheap.
Did anyone get an accurate headcount? I know we had 50-60 kids included.

Thanks very much to all who had a hand in planning the event. I saw lots of smiles, which is always a good indicator of how successful it was; no words needed. It was good to see friends I'd already met , put some faces with forum names, and meet new friends.
Thanks, too, to both speakers. That was excellent information from a couple of very knowledgeable guys.
Thanks rickl for doing the shirts. They turned out great!
